FULL TACO WARS
LINE-UP REVEALED

First we told you war has broken out again in London’s taco scene. Now we can reveal just how fierce the battle’s going to be.

The line-up has been finalised for the first Taco Wars since 2014, and details of the unmissable menus are emerging. You can vote for a winner at Dinerama on Tue 21 May – a £40 ticket includes eight tacos, one from each trader competing, plus an ice cream taco from Chin Chin Labs, a bottle of Corona and a Patrón Chilliback. You can either have that lot for yourself, or share with a friend.

Completing the formidable list of challengers for the Corona Cup and a £2,500 prize are Bob’s Lobster, going into battle with an ahi tuna taco, and Walthamstow’s best-kept secret, Homies on Donkeys.

Each trader has been asked to create one sensational taco worthy of being crowned Britain’s best. Defending champions Breddos will show off a smoked short rib creation with coconut husk and guajillo chili; 2013 winners Luardos will offer up Lil Miss Piggy Rico (mojo pork, roast garlic salsa verde, maple habanero-glaze pineapple, chicharrones, coriander lime); and Santo Remedio will produce a short rib and mole negro taco with plantain, chicatana ants and Mexican cacao.

Elote’s serving up an Achiote-marinated fish taco with pico de gallo, chipotle and lime mayonnaise, while White Men Can’t Jerk and Cabrito Goat are collaborating on a slow-smoked curry goat taco with frijoles rojo, spiced puffed rice, pink onion and curry drizzle.

The final menu – including what the tag team of Club Mexicana and Neil Rankin has created – will be revealed on our social media pages (@streetfeastldn) in the next few days.
