MODEL MARKET IS BACK

Our late night Lewisham hangout Model Market is BACK for summer on Friday 3 May with a three-day Bank Holiday celebration.

The indoor and outdoor market will have an extended launch from Friday to Sunday, showcasing a revamped street food line-up alongside DJs, games, offers and six specialist bars.

Among the eight traders is 2018 Great British Menu winner James Cochran, making his street food debut with GOAT. The new venture will serve jerk-spiced goat on coconut flatbreads with a choice of sauces, building on James’ mastery of goat at his 12:51 restaurant in Islington.

Thai specialists KraPow will offer their PowPow chicken wings for the first time in a street food setting. The crispy fried wings in a sweet and spicy fish glaze have proved a smash-hit special at their Clapton restaurant.

Lewisham locals Wandercrust are serving their wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, including the winner of the 2018 London Pizza Festival, the American Psycho (salami, roquito peppers, chilli honey).

Secret Nicky’s, London’s original frozen custard company, is transporting a staple of the American Mid-West to SE13. The signature dish is The Big Apple: frozen vanilla custard blitzed with hot chunks of spiced apple pie, salted caramel and almonds.

The full trader line-up will be revealed in the run up to launch, as well as details of the completed Model Market menu.

High Line, SE13’s rooftop sunset strip, is one of six bars supplementing the food options. Gin Salon guarantees masterful gin and tonics; Can Hatch is brimming with up-to-the-minute brews; Street Vin showcases international wine producers; Rotary delivers festival-sized cocktails; and Rum Shack’s got unforgettable daiquiris.

Model Market will be open Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm to late, with entry free before 7pm and £3 after.
